Burn Off Ovens For Cleaning Motor Stator

burn off ovens For Cleaning Motor Stator

Burn off ovens(also called thermal cleaning furnace) have had a huge impact on the motor rewinding industry. The designed burn off ovens dramatically increase production capacity, reduce labor costs, and eliminate harmful production and processing procedures.

Why use a burn out oven to rebuild an electric motor?

Electric motors are ubiquitous in our life, powering most of the technological conveniences we rely on household appliances, air conditioner, vacuum cleaner, electric tools, the fans, pump, and disk drives. The motor is also the true workhorse of our industrial power. The largest electric motors are used in diesel train engines, Marine propulsion, pipeline compression and pumped energy storage applications and are rated up to 100 MW. Manufacturing operations use motors to power compressors, pumps, conveyors, punch presses, industrial blowers, refrigeration equipment, pellet mills, etc. Extending the life of these expensive motors could save manufacturers tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars. Some of these motors are irreplaceable because they were produced decades before motor manufacturers standardized sizes and components.

To rebuild an electric motor, it must first be thoroughly cleaned: its copper coils and all varnish, epoxy, paint and insulation. Before today's strict environmental laws, this was usually done by soaking engine parts in kerosene and then "burning off" or "burning out" the organic material in a pit or metal container. Manual removal of materials is slow and expensive, often damaging parts and unsafe for workers.

Burn-off oven solutions

The designed burn off oven not only addressed safety and environmental issues, but also helped companies significantly increase production capacity and reduce labor costs. The controlled pyrolysis process can easily remove insulating layers, varnishes, epoxies, paints, and other organic materials through pyrolysis (thermal decomposition of organic materials).

Control pyrolysis burnout oven features:

Automatic control by stator core temperature regulation safely and economically strips the stator and parts without any damage.

The fumes and gases emitted during pyrolysis are consumed by the 1400ºF afterburner, leaving only a small amount of water vapor and carbon dioxide leaving the chimney.

The stator comes out clean, ready to reroll with minimal preparation.

This unique process allows the reconstruction of any size stator with any insulation system, including random winding or molding coils, vacuum pressure dipping, pouring, thick casting or dipping and baking.

Controlled pyrolysis burn off ovens eliminate open burning, acids, stripping and solvents, as well as hazardous handling and handling of waste stripping materials.

The cost savings usually pay for the cleaning furnace in the short term and continue to pay dividends year after year.
